Daz Okiar
About
Daz Okiar is a product of what happens when you face an orphan with two choices, die a slave, or live.Hailing from the far east in the desert region of Hingia, his homeland was overrun by Zenos yae Galvus and his army. His mother was slain before his eyes for resisting a couple soldiers when he was only 9 years old. From that point forward his hatred for Zenos and his army was sealed. He bode his time until he rallied enough men to lead a silent rebellion and escape their homeland. Leading the men, he broke into the mansion of one of Zenos's higher officers, stealing all she had and then escaping in her ship docked behind her mansion. Once they got far enough out into the ocean that no land could be seen, they stripped the ugly pink ship to reveal its brown and black wood and steel. They arrived in Limsa Lominsa a few days later, free men but poor beggars. Daz set out to find work for all of them. He successfully found help from Merlwyb, who employed Daz and his men as guards and dock hands, paying them in food and board until they could find their own way.Shortly after arriving, Daz came into contact with a Free Company by the name of Ad Meliora, who welcomed him in with open arms and helped him and his crew in every way they could. Daz eventually saved up enough to buy himself a home and even fell in love and got married to a beautiful Au Ra woman.A year later, Daz got the courage up to return to his homeland and free his people, leaving in the middle of the night without telling anybody, rallying up his men, and setting sail back home on his now modified stolen ship, outfitted as a battleship and painted black and red, with black masts and a black flag with red horns like his own. From the moment Daz and his men hit the beach running, they started slaughtering every member of Zenos's army, marching their way up to the homes of each of Zenos's officers and other higher ups. Daz publicly hung each of them from the roofs of their houses by their own intestines to bleed out or suffocate, whichever happened first, in order to make a message to Zenos. Little did Daz know that his rebellion was about to coincide with the Scions and their mission. He ran into the Scions and the Warrior of Light on his way to kill Zenos, agreeing to the terms of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend," slaying Zenos with their help, landing the killing blow with his gunblade. After all was said and done, Daz's people were free, but they did not want him in their fold due to the inhumane violence that he showed during the rebellion. Defeated, Daz understood and started to return to Limsa, being stopped by Y'shtola and offered a place in the group of Scions. He politely declined, but Y'shtola instead assured him that she would reach out to him next time the Scions needed help.Upon returning home, Daz came to find his home abandoned, only a letter waiting for him on his desk, from his wife. She assumed him to be dead and expressed how heartbroken she was that he left without saying anything to her. Daz's heart broke with every word in that letter. He decided to head to a bar and drink away his sorrows, only to run into his now ex-wife. They got their closure, but things wouldn't be the same between them ever again.Opting to keep his distance, Daz decided to take on massive workloads in attempts to better himself, eventually finding himself in control on the entire market in Eorea, pedaling legal and illegal alike, with multitudes of ships and a massive crew to fill out each of them. Between managing his newly acquired distribution business and taking on bounties, Daz finally found inner peace, finding a way to forgive himself for his wrongdoings. After a few months, Daz also found a new love for music, finding himself taking time to play at venues, eventually finding himself to be a widely known bard, becoming a common name amongst venue goers. Daz also picked up working at Ad Meliora's bar as the manager, playing his guitar during downtime on shift. Daz eventually opened up his own bar down the street from his Free Company's bar, adding it on as an overflow bar for when business was booming and there was no room for anyone to be comfortable.Around year later, Y'shtola contacted him, wanting to hire him to help her and the Scions with a new threat. Daz was late to the party, however, as it took him a few months to get things with his businesses in order to run without him. When he finally answered the call, the Scions were nowhere to be found, instead crossing paths with the Warrior of Light and helping them, finding himself in a new world called The First. He was separated from The Warrior of Light, so he had to figure out how to leave or find them on his own, slaughtering Lightwardens along the way. He eventually found the Warrior of Light once more, who had managed to find the Scions. He was sent out to clear out the threats to the First while the Scions and the Warrior of Light continued their mission. Eventually he crossed paths with them once more, witnessing the unholy power that the Warrior of Light possesses first hand. From that point on, Daz was obsessed with becoming just as powerful as they are.Upon coming back home, Daz spent all his time and money trying to become just as powerful as the Warrior of Light, investing in anything and everything from body modifications to pseudo-science, eventually finding himself touched with the powers of the Fae.His nails, teeth, scales, barbs on his tail, and his horns, are all as sharp as obsidian and as hard as 6 inch Allagan Steel. He also found some useful powers, allowing him to use advanced movement to move faster, control water in a defensive manner, as well as use it to create extra cartridges for his gunblade for extended attack patterns. He also found the ability to control a targets will to be his own after he has weakened their emotional state.Satisfied with his newfound power, Daz now spends the time he isn't using to run his businesses training to better control his new abilities and strengthen his body, especially after receiving word from Y'shtola once more that she may need him again in the near future. Daz sees it as an opportunity to show the word that he is greater than the Warrior of Light. Perhaps his intentions will become a problem. Only time will tell.
